Today's E-School is on Spam
busters. What a Spam buster is is a
program that stops you from receiving Spam in your email. There are
other ways to stop Spam but this has proven itself most effective.
Spam Busters:
Spam Buster
- A separate program that lets you preview your email before you
receive it. It allows you to look at it and then decide whether you want
to get that or not. You can also add the email to a filter that deletes
them before you actually download it. It receives the emails like
outlook would and deletes the ones it has in its blacklist as known Spam
mailers. (free)

Busters is freeware, freeware means it will not cost you to use this
program.
XPH Spam Buster
- This program adds itself to outlook express and scans for
Spam mail and then moves it to a folder in outlook express called
"Spam mail". You can later view and delete these emails.

Spam Buster is shareware, It costs $12.99. What shareware is is it
allows you to download and try it but will only last for about 30 days.
When the 30 days is up it will no longer let you use the program and
then you must either register it or uninstall.
Build-in Features:
Outlook Express (ver. 5.5) -
Outlook Express comes with a built-in rule wizard. The rule wizard
creates rules that are triggered by a specified
conditions. The rule tells Outlook what to do with a message that meet
that condition. Outlook can delete the message, move it to a
specific folder, flag it for follow-up, print it, or launch an
application, to name just a few. If you go to Tools > Message Rules
> Blocked Senders List here you can add email addresses so that you
will not recieve any emails from that address. To add a email to
block simply click add and put in the address. You can also create
message rules. Go to Message > Create Rule From Message here
you can create rules such as
Delete it"
This will delete any messages from that email address. You can do
numerious things with this rule creator as listed above.
Microsoft Outlook (2000 or above) -
To block a email address go to Tools > Organize and that will bring
down a widow on the top of the screen. Where it says Create a rule
select the message you want to block and then click on the drop-down
after "into" select "deleted items and then click
Create. Now when you receive a message from that email address it will
move it to Deleted Items. If you want to you can automatically delete
items when you close outlook. To do so go to Tools > Options >
Other Tab > Check the "Empty the Deleted Items folder upon
exiting" and then click ok.
