~Farewell to Reagen~
~H. Edward Rowe~
With notes of love they said goodbye
With music soft and hope so high,
To him who had his nation served
With thanks abundantly deserved.
Slow moments passed while yet he stayed,
As soldiers paused and preachers prayed,
And eulogies well justified
Were heard while people watched and cried.
The years of his eventful life,
So filled with stress and global strife,
Brought good will that shall survive
As long as good men are alive.
Confronted by his words and wit,
The lamp of light and hope was lit,
Defeating empires brash and bold
That crumbled when the truth was told.
The star that rose in God's good will,
Through earthly lands is rising still,
And may it ever brightly shine
Among the nations through all time.
